In June 2007 I was approached and asked if I was interested in contributing to a new TV channel based around the guitar and it’s surrounding technology. The extent of my involvement was somewhat unknown at the time and really it was a question of piloting a few articles about the maintenance and repair of guitars.
The first thing I thought I would do is show you how to string a guitar properly - I'm not telling you how to suck eggs here! - it's just I get a lot of people through the workshop who complain about tuning stability and really it's just a case of stringing it up properly.
I’ve asked friends and customers what they would like to see in this area and they have suggested a few things that would be of interest to players – they mentioned things like:-
- adjusting truss rods
- correct stringing methods
- learning how to solder correctly
- changing pickups
- the basics of guitar building
- adding wiring mods etc. etc.
Anyway a few tutorials are now up and running – so take a visit to http://www.guitartvonline.com/ .
I hope you find it both of interest and useful - and if you have any ideas on what you would like to see drop me a mail.
